I joined Montini Catholic School in 1985 and was tasked with the privilege of developing the Little Angels Preschool curriculum as the teacher and director. The curriculum was developed with sequencing of the kindergarten and first grade curriculums as models. The math, language arts, science and reading
content were used to formulate the program. The Religion curriculum is centered around saints, bible stories, the liturgical year and is my favorite aspect of teaching at Montini. Over the years, we have added geography, STEM, Sign language, Braille and Spanish. A 5-day program and extended day have become a very necessary addition to the preschool.
I began my education at Western Illinois University in the Theater Department. After my freshman year, I decided to go an entirely different direction in Home Economics with a concentration in Early Childhood Education. It was the best decision of my life. I have worked at several preschool settings but
being on the staff at Montini is by far my greatest and most rewarding endeavor. My post graduate classes include Aurora University and St. Xavier University. I also received my Certified Nursing Assistant certificate from McHenry County College. During the pandemic, I was a rehabilitation aide for Athletico Physical Therapy. These experiences have contributed to an understanding of all aspects of human development.
All three of my children attended Montini graduating in the years 1991, 1996, and 2004, and now have very fulfilling careers. My husband of 47 years is a retired teacher but he never tires of hearing the day-to-day operations at Little Angels. While the family was part of Montini, I was a volleyball coach,
Student Council facilitator and a Girl Scout leader.
Most recently, I helped create the Montini Theater Department. We have had 4 productions and have established a Theater Scholarship to eight grade
students attending Marian Central High School. The theater background I acquired in high school and at WIU certainly added to my desire to encourage our students to become members of the performing arts.
I am an active member of St. Patrick’s Church in McHenry where I participate in leading the rosary, Compassionate Care, Choir, Ladies Guild, and Respect Life. In 2018, I received the Distinguished Woman of the Year from the Rockford Dioceses, which was a very humbling experience. I consider my time at Montini a win, win, win. My faith, my family, and my school are part of my life-long achievements.
